Stow ARES Frequency Plan

1 Introduction

This page contains frequency and plans for the Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES) team in Stow, Massachusetts. This document is public and therefore should not contain personal information, email addresses, etc.

2 Specific to Stow ARES

2.1 Callsign - W1STO

The Stow ARES group has callsign W1STO, held by N1BE as trustee. Generally this is used only when operating from the town EOC.

In the event of repeater failure, MA RACES protocol calls for using the repeater output simplex.

The use of 147.435 MHz and 151.4 Hz CTCSS is new/experimental. The notion is that always leaving a radio on that frequency/tone in CTCSS mode should be reasonable; please use that tone only to reach people in the event of a callout/deployment/etc, and use 100.0 Hz for all working communication and radio testing.

2.3 Power

The plan is to follow the ARES Anderson Powerpole standard. Some people also have the old ARES standard (1990ish) Molex connectors.
